Open Data Day 2016 (ODD 2016) event in Kathmandu has still caught me in. Even though I was more supposed to look after the logistic arrangement, I could be found attending the activities during the day.
‘Techies’ from my lens, had been the persons with beards, long hair, earpiece and more ‘Bindaas’ compared to others. But when they started talking and presenting about ‘solving real problems’, I was more than amazed. I have had involved into a pretty sum of events to discuss on solving problems. This is the first event, I have witnessed where ‘techies’ were working onto innovate in solving ‘real’ problems of Nepal.
The ‘real’ problems of Nepal such as overpricing, fatal diseases, non-disclosure of development projects, unemployment, health care responses and so on if are thought of seriously for their remedies by the ‘techies’. They can definitely innovate in collecting, managing and disclosing data which can lead to creating interesting solutions. This is what I have all learnt from ODD 2016.
This is what we ‘lawyers’ call “Social Engineering”.
I am glad to share my cup of tea with you all ‘techies’ ! Lets continue towards ‘solving real problems of Nepal’, together.
